I live with my parents on a large property and I’d like to convert a large 3 car garage into a 2 bedroom cottage. Is there a way to finance the construction? It would be less than $100,000. I do not own the land or the main home. Any suggestions would be helpful!

The property is on 5 rural acres. There is no zoning to prevent the construction. The property will be family held land for years to come and if we needed to sell suddenly we could divide the property to reflect 2 homes with land. I’d like to finance the construction myself (not that my parents can’t but I want my own home).

I know kitchens and bathrooms are the best places to put your money, however I am on a budget and the place just needs some upgrades because it is in good shape. Some things are a bit outdated like light fixtures and such. How much of an increase in value can I expect without doing a major remodeling?

When it comes down to it, which would have a better market and wider consumer base. I was thinking along the lines of Hydrogen fuel-cell refueling station or solar panel installation business. There are strides being taken in hydrogen automobiles and also in solar technology and cost. So which is a better idea? Thanks for your help.

A few months ago my mom fell down while getting out of the bathtub. This worried me. She gets around pretty good except for a cane to walk. My dad is healthy and has no problems of moving around.

They are on vacation and I would like to remodel the bathroom for my mom’s saftey while they are on vacation. It has a standard tub, standard toilet, and pedistal sink. I don’t want to change it too drastically because I am sure my dad would be really mad. Any ideas on remodeling the bathroom for the elder?
