He has several types of big saws, and all the little power tools-drills, dremels (sp?), power sanders and the like. He is good at woodworking, but I don’t think he has many woodworking type tools. Any guy or girl out there who enjoys working with tools, what tools are you glad you own, or what tools are on your wish list??

we are building a house and have been paying a construction loan (interest only) waiting for it to get rolled over into a permenant mortgage. we have not recieved any forms from the mortgage comany yet. will we?

My husband and I are buying a home that only the outside is done. On the inside the stud walls are up, but that is it. We will have to do everything from electrical to sheetrock. I have 3 small daughters (7, 4, and 2) and want their rooms to be beautiful. I need help designing and decorating the bathrooms and the kitchen.

I was just looking for some movitivational/inspirational advice. I moved into this cool apartment nearly a year ago and still have not had time to get it the way I want it. In fact, I still have a few unpacked boxes lying around. I have a lot of good ideas on what I want to do, but just can never seem to execute them because I’m busy, broke or whatever. Should making a more livable/organized, and pretty apartment be a priority in my life? Has anyone overcome a similar problem and then felt their life change after they got a better organized and decorated home? How can I find the energy and motivation to do this because I do want my apartment to be more welcoming…so I can invite friends and family over? I know part of the problem is that I work two jobs and I am kind of broke. Your thoughts….

So, I understand how mortgages work when you buy an existing home, but how does it work when you buy a home that needs to be built in a new home community….like those being built by Ryan, K Hov, Pulte etc…

Do you have to start paying on the loan right away (kind of like a construction loan where they take draws) or do you not make any payments until they finish building the home? Perhaps its a function of when you close on the home?

i am sistering joist in my basement. i was thinking of buying a paslode cordless nailer but wasnt sure if i needed a finisher or a trimmer. my joist are douglas fir and im sistering them with 2×8 treated joist. which cordless nailer is the best nailer to use for that application. i want to buy paslode because of their reputation and i also want cordless. please help. finisher or trimmer ? angled or straight ? and the last question is it powerfull enough to drive 16 gauge 2 1/4 inch nails through douglas fir ?

I graduated last August with a bachelor degree in finance, and I would like to get a job with a real estate development or construction company. Some type of training program possibly in the area of project management would be great. I have no experience, but I learn very quickly and have great work ethic.
I currently live in Fort Worth, TX, but I am willing to relocate given the right opportunity.

small scale construction

I own an agency and I get gigs for independent contractors. Clients would pay the agency using my Tax ID and I would then pay out the independent contractor. Keep in mind I get a percentage amount of the gig that I get for the independent contractor. How would I claim the independent contractor on my income taxes because our clients send a 1099 to my Tax ID and not the independent contractor? Would the independent contractor be an expense for my business or how would I claim them?
